Guldapporten!

Nu är jag väldigt stolt och glad! På Svenska Tollarklubbens årsmöte den 12 mars 2016 så blev jag tilldelad Guldapporten 2015 för mitt arbete med sjukdomen Degenerativ encefalopati! Detta är ett “uppmuntringspris” som tilldelas en medlem som ställer upp lite extra för klubben. De som tidigare mottagit Guldapporten är personer som jag har stor respekt för och som verkligen har jobbat genom många år på olika sätt till det bästa för Tollarklubben. Därför känns det som en stor ära att få lov att sluta sig till deras räcke. Tusen tack till Tollarklubben och tusen tack till de som har nominerat mig! Jag fick priset med följande motivation:

För att med stort personligt engagemang för rasens bästa helhjärtat deltagit i framtagandet av ett nytt viktigt gentest och forskningsunderlag för sjukdomen Degenerativ encefalopati.

Men detta är inte ett pris till bara en person, det är ett pris till många. Att forskningen och framtagandet av testen har gått så fort som det har, är tack vare samarbete och öppenhet. Så detta priset delas med våra fantastiska valpköpare som har ställt upp hela vägen, Doris Hoffman som aldrig tvekade med att hjälpa, Prof. Dennis O’Brien och hans team på Universitetet i Missouri som har gjort en otrolig jobb samt inte minst alla ägare och uppfödare till hundarna som har deltagit i forskningen. Detta är till oss ALLA!

Now I’m very happy and proud! At the yearly meeting of the Swedish Tollerclub I was awarded the Guldapporten (Golden Retrieve) for my work with the disease Degenerative encephalopathy! This encouragement prize is awarded to members that does something extra for the club. Previous recipients are people that I respect highly and that really has worked for the club through many years. Therefor it feels like a great honour to be allowed to join their rank. Thank you to the Swedish Tollerclub and those that nominated me!

I was awarded the prize with the following motivation:

With strong personal commitment for the best of the breed, whole-heartedly participated in the development of a new and important genetic test and for providing foundation for research of the disease Degenerative encephalopathy.

But this is not a prize for one person, this is a prize for many. That the research on DE has advanced so rapidly and the swiftness of a test being developed is because of cooperation and openness among all involved. So this prize is shared with all our fantastic puppy buyes that where there for us the whole way, with Doris Hoffman who never thought twice about helping out, with Prof. Dennis O’Brien and his team at the University of Missouri that has done an incredible work, and not the least, with all the owners and breeders of dogs that has participated in the research. This is for ALL of us!
